Sept. 15, 2009, 14:00. The Phase II coal-chemical plant of Wison (Nanjing) Chemical Co., Ltd. successfully passed the 168-hour full load performance test and was officially put into commercial operation, following its successful production of carbon monoxide with a purity of 99.1% at 7:00, Sept. 8.
The oxygen needed in the coal gasification process of the plant comes from an Air Products and Chemicals facility in the park. Most of the plant’s products are supplied directly to neighboring enterprises in the park, such as Celanese, BASF-YPC, Ling Tian Fine Chemical, Bluestar New Chemical Materials etc., for downstream chemicals production. The waste water, gas and residues are also full recycled. A long-term contract has been signed with a cooperation party for residues treatment, in which aluminum oxide and silicon dioxide can be extracted with the use of new technologies. A small amount of flue gas from the plant is also collected to be used as fuel. The black wastewater generated in the production is recycled for slurry making. And a very small amount of wastewater is delivered to a Sembcorp facility after preliminary treatment. These arrangements not only make full use of resources but also minimize the hazards to the environment.
